On our first day at realise we arrived at Wambana at 12 o'clock, we unloaded the bus and had a small tour of the grounds. We then went to the classroom and waited to be sorted into our Wardlis. I am in a Wardli with Ellen, Lili, Izzie, Liv and Laura. We are in two rooms of three, Ellen, Lili and Liv and in the second room me, iz and Laura. On the second day we made a meal plan and went to the Yorketown Supermarket to buy our food for the week. We also chose our Chill Out spot which is where we spend an hour everyday just lying down or reading or writing. On Sunday we had our first snorkelling session, it was great fun and we saw a bright orange starfish and a few fish, it was extremely cold but very enjoyable!
Also in the first week we went to two museums. One in Kadina and one in Moonta. The moonta museum had lots of different displays all about daily life in those times and all about mining. Before going to the museums we went to the op shop and we each chose one item of clothing to try and fit in with the olden times.
Last few days:
Our last few days at Wambana were some of the best
On Tuesday was our first day of surfing, we were given our wet suits and took the bus to the beach. After taking our boards down a long set of stairs we were on the sand. The instructors taught us the surfing techniques and then we went in the water. On the first day i didn't stand up but i had lots of fun trying.
On Wednesday was our second day of surfing. Even though the weather was not looking great we made our way to another beach not to far from the last one. The waves were bigger than they were on wednesday and even more fun. I managed to stand up many times which was fun. After surfing we came back to wambana and watched 'Blue Crush' because the weather was turning stormy.
Today is our last day, we were meant to go surfing there were no waves at the beach, instead we got some yummy hot chips. For dinner tonight we had a big shared meal which the teachers cooked, it was very tasty and for desert we had cupcakes and custard.
